Ernest Kwasi Danquah A holder of Accounting and MBA Finance degrees from the University of Ghana Business School. A professional banker, and a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers. Also a Council Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers. Dissertation in the award of the MBA degree was on using microprudential indicators in achieving financial stability. Financial system instability should be a concern to everybody as they entail high cost to the economy. My working life span a period of thirty-three (33) years in banking in the areas of domestic, international and controls. Currently the Internal Controller at Prudential Bank limited with oversight responsibility of Branch inspection, Internal audit and Systems audit.
Prof. Joshua Ayarkwa has newly been appointed Provost of the College of Art and Built Environment of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi. He is the out-going Deputy Director of the Institute of Distance Learning (IDL) of KNUST, Kumasi, and the immediate past Head of Building Technology Department. He served as Dean and Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Building Technology of the College of Architecture and Planning between 2004 and 2014. Prof. Ayarkwa graduated from the KNUST with a BSc degree in Building Technology, pursued a Postgraduate Certificate Programme in Wood Technology/Wood Research in Germany under a scholarship of the German Foundation for International Development (DSE) at University of Munich’s Institute for Wood Research, University of Karlsruhe, Fachhochshule Hildesheim and the Federal Research Center for Forestry and Forest Products. Prof. Ayarkwa also pursued an MPhil Degree in Wood Science in KNUST and after some few years in the field of work at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in Ghana, he undertook his PhD degree in Timber Engineering at the Nagoya University in Japan. Prof. Ayarkwa joined the staff of KNUST as a Senior Lecturer in September 2002. By virtue of diligence and devotion to work, he was appointed an Associate Professor to the Department of Building Technology with retrospective effect from September 2002. He is a professional Scientist, a specialized scholar in the fields of Building Technology and Timber Engineering, and an accomplished academic and administrator with quality experience, both locally and internationally. He served the CSIR in various positions and capacities including serving as a Senior Research Scientist at the Timber Engineering and Mechanical Processing Division of the Forestry Research Institute of Ghana (FORIG). As a distinguished researcher, Prof Ayarkwa has conducted extensive research in several areas, published extensively, mentored many upcoming lecturers/researchers and supervised many students. Prof Ayarkwa’s research focus includes sustainable construction, lean construction, damp in buildings, utilization of indigenous materials for building construction, timber jointing and non-destructive testing of wood. Prof. Ayarkwa has good standing membership to some commissioned Committees in the KNUST including, Member of the Academic Board, Management Board of IDL, Management Board of the School of Graduate Studies, and College Board of College of Art and Built Environment, and Chairman of the Public Lectures Committee. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Science and Technology (JUST) and many international and local Journals, and have served as Reviewer for many Journals. His academic excellence has earned him recognition among his peers in the University Community and in other Universities and Polytechnics in Ghana and beyond. Apart from academic work, Prof. Ayarkwa is also equally committed to socio-economic development, having served as District Chief Executive of Ejura-Sekyedumasi District. He is currently the Chairman of the Board of Governors for Sekyedumasi Senior High School, Executive Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors of TIPA Memorial Education Foundation. He has also previously served as Acting Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Sekyedumasi Rural Bank Ltd.
After obtaining a professional qualification as a chartered accountant (CA) in Ghana in 1996, he proceeded to the United Kingdom to pursue a master’s programme in Business Administration (Finance) which he completed with distinction in 2001. He also was adjudged the best business student in the Midlands (UK) and therefore won the prestigious 3B Excellency Award in 2002. After some years of intensive research in the field of finance, researching into the Impact of Accounting Information in Emerging Stock Markets, a case study of the Ghanaian Stock Exchange, Mr. Mbawuni was awarded a doctorate degree in philosophy (PhD) in finance and accounting by Birmingham City University in 2008. In the working environment, Dr. Mbawuni has risen from Audit/Accountant Trainee with Pannell Kerr Forster Chartered Accountants to hold top managerial positions like Finance and Accounts manager in big companies including London Family Centre Ltd, London, UK; and Naja David Group of Companies, Kumasi, Ghana. The nature of his work, (especially with London Family Centre Ltd, which sent him to Singapore, Uganda, Kenya, and others) exposed him to a global view of life. Dr. Joseph Mbawuni acted as Dean of the Faculty of Business in the University of Education, Winneba from 2013 to 2015 where he still lectures finance and accounting courses. He is also the CEO of Ensum Company Ltd, a dealer in petroleum products.
Mr. Kwabena Atuahene is an Entrepreneur, Business Executive and Management Consultant with vast experience in the Financial Services Sectors. He is the Founder of both Utrak Capital Management Ltd and its sister company, Utrak Savings and Loans Ltd. He serves on a number of Boards, bringing his rich experience to bear on the operations of the company. He holds MSc Financial Management from the Leichester University (UK).
